Jaguar C-X75
The Jaguar C-X75 Hybrid Supercar is Named Most Significant Concept Vehicle of 2011.
The high-performance Jaguar C-X75 received top honors last night at the 10th annual North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards in Detroit, MI, where the stunning range extended supercar was named the Most Significant Concept Vehicle of 2011 in addition to receiving the Concept Car of the Year award.
The C-X75 received the highest overall score among the segment winners in the Car, Truck and Production Preview categories, to earn the night's coveted award. This marks the first Most Significant Concept Vehicle honor for the brand and the third Concept Vehicle award. The Jaguar ALC concept won in 2005 and the C-XF in 2007.
North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards recognize those vehicles most likely to shape the future of the automobile industry. This year, more than two dozen jurors participated in a selection process that involved a total of 29 vehicles, each introduced to North America during this season’s auto shows in Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto, and New York. Finalists in this year's Car category also included the Audi Quattro, the Mazda Shinari, and the Porsche 918 RSR Hybrid.
“The Jaguar C-X75 is one of the most visually arresting cars ever. Call it aggressive elegance. The novel turbine-based range-extender hybrid powertrain recalls the Chrysler Turbine Car, but looks ahead to what could be a practical alternative to conventional power sources,” said juror Chris Poole.
“We are extremely proud to have been named the Most Significant Concept Car of the Year,” said Ian Callum, Design Director for Jaguar. “We’re at our best when we’re breaking the mold - making our cars stand out for all the right reasons. C-X75 is an exciting project for us and a clear statement of Jaguar’s intent to continue creating bold, innovative and beautiful performance cars.”
The Most Significant Concept Car of the Year honor and the Concept Car of the Year award adds to the C-X75 supercar's growing list of accolades, which includes being named AutoWeek's 'Best in Show' at the 2010 Paris Moto Show and receiving the 2010 Louis Vuitton Classic Concept award in February.
In May, Jaguar announced its plans to launch the remarkable C-X75 concept car as an exclusive hybrid supercar, making it the British marque's most advanced model to date. The Jaguar C-X75 will offer performance on a par with the fastest production cars on the market, while adopting cutting-edge technology that offers remarkably economical running. Jaguar Race Runway
LOW FLYING JAGUARS RACE THE RUNWAY
Jaguar supports The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and Scottish Burned Children's Club in Race the Runway event.
The Jaguar XKR-S has made a dramatic Scottish debut at the Race the Runway charity event organised by The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.
Held at Edinburgh Airport the event saw 32 cars compete in drag races along a 1,800-metre runway. The XKR-S beat off fierce competition to make it to the semi-final, outpaced only by vehicles valued at over twice the XKR-S' £97,000 price tag. From rest the 550 PS Jaguar hit 100 mph in just over eight seconds before being measured reaching a terminal speed of 165 mph.
Now in its third year, Race the Runway has so far raised over £40,000 for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and other co-nominated charities. This year's event saw a record entry. Joining the XKR-S and the XKR in the line up of vehicles was an XFR, also making its Scottish debut.
Ashley Kilgour, Corporate Fundraiser, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice commented: "We're delighted that Jaguar supported the Race the Runway event this year and our thanks go to them. The event raised a combined total of over £11,000 this year for The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and the Scottish Burned Children's Club which will make a valuable difference. I was fortunate enough to passenger in the XKR-S and what a thrill it was. It's not every day you achieve 165 mph in a brand new Jaguar on an airport runway!" Business in Community Award
JAGUAR LAND ROVER HONOURED BY BUSINESS IN THE COMMUNITY
* JAGUAR LAND ROVER RATED GOLD IN THE CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY INDEX 2011
* ENVIRONMENTAL INNOVATION PROGRAMME AWARDED A NATIONAL BIG TICK
Jaguar Land Rover has today been praised by Business in the Community for its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility with the awarding of Gold in the Corporate Responsibility (CR) Index and a coveted Big Tick award for Environmental Leadership.
These prestigious accolades reflect Jaguar Land Rover's continuing commitment to CR throughout its business operations and sees the company increase its score by 10 percentage points from Silver to Gold in just one year. Commenting on the award Mike Wright, Executive Director, Jaguar Land Rover said: "Corporate Social Responsibility has long been a core value for Jaguar Land Rover and permeates every aspect of our business from the environmental impact of our products and operations to engagement with our employees, community groups and nationwide educational establishments. It is therefore very satisfying to see the efforts of our entire team recognised by Business in the Community."
The CR Index is the UK's leading voluntary benchmark of Corporate Responsibility. It's a framework to help companies to integrate and improve CR throughout their operations by providing a systematic approach to managing, measuring and reporting on business impact in society and on the environment.
Environmental performance is just one of the many key measures within Jaguar Land Rover's CR strategy and its innovative Environmental Innovation programme has been awarded a Big Tick for Environmental Leadership. The award recognises Jaguar Land Rover's commitment to sustainable products and manufacturing processes, CO2 reductions and improved fuel efficiency through its comprehensive employee engagement initiative.
Ei is a company-wide framework used to structure, measure and evaluate efforts to reduce environmental impact and increase efficiency. Established three years ago it set out ambitious long term business targets for products and processes with an overall target of 25 per cent reductions in operational CO2, and waste to landfill by 2012, a 10 per cent reduction in water consumption by 2012, and 25 per cent reduction in tailpipe emissions by 2015, compared to 2007 levels.
Stephen Howard, Chief Executive, Business in the Community said: "I congratulate Jaguar Land Rover on achieving their Big Tick. It is a challenging time for business, but this is a sign that companies are not losing their focus and are transforming their businesses to make a positive impact on people and society and are prepared to lead by example. That's what Business in the Community's Awards for Excellence are all about – celebrating responsible business, the leadership that makes it happen and the benefits to the business and society of doing so. Communities and consumers need to see that businesses are proactive, visible and engaged on the big issues of the day, as Jaguar Land Rover has demonstrated. "
Commenting on the award Fran Leedham, Head of Sustainability, said: "We are delighted to receive this Big Tick Award. We take our sustainability responsibilities very seriously and our Ei programme has enabled us to engage widely across the business, and it is satisfying to see our commitment rewarded. There have already been significant results across the business with improved environmental performance of vehicles and progress in achieving our targets for reducing CO2, water and waste. This award will encourage and inspire our employees to continue working hard towards sustainable development." Labels: Barretts Jaguar Ashford, Barretts Jaguar Canterbury

Convoy of 50 E-Types
CONVOY OF 50 E-TYPES CROSSES LONDON TO MARK E-TYPE ANNIVERSARY
The unusual sight of 50 Jaguar E-types greeted Londoners today as a fleet of privately owned vehicles travelled in convoy through the Capital to the 2011 Motorexpo in Canary Wharf, marking 50 years of the sports car in style.
Organised by the Jaguar Drivers' Club, the convoy started its journey under police escort at Forbes House in central London, home of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). The route took in landmarks including Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square before arriving at Canary Wharf where the cars lined up on display.
Leading the convoy was a team of professional cyclists joined by ex-Formula One World Champion Nigel Mansell, supporting Motorexpo's chosen charity, UK Youth.
The Jaguar E-type was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1961. When launched its mix of daring design, advanced engineering and the ability to hit 150 mph caused a sensation. The intervening years have seen it become one of the most acclaimed and desirable sports cars of all time.
The same spirit of innovation and emphasis on design lives on in Jaguar today, with the latest XF, XK and XJ models making their UK debut at the Motorexpo. Also present will be the fastest Jaguar production car ever created, the 550 PS XKR-S.
On arriving at Canary Wharf, Graeme Carver, CEO of Motorexpo commented: 'It's been a terrific day and a fitting tribute to the E-type – we are incredibly grateful to the police and all the owners for providing their support to make it possible. We all feel honoured to have taken part in such a key celebration of what was, and remains, a landmark car.'
The Motorexpo opened today and runs through to June 12. For more information visit www.motorexpo.co.uk. Labels: 2011 Motorexpo, Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar Drivers' Club, Jaguar E-Type
