Barretts help Emma tick off her bucket list

Emma Young was diagnosed with Meningioma in June 2012, a specific type of tumour that affects the brain or the spinal cord.  Since diagnosis she has undergone two lots of brain surgery to try and remove it. Admitted to a London hospital, doctors were able to remove 80% of the ‘tennis ball’ sized tumour. However, the benign tumour remains wrapped around her main artery, Emma consequently suffering nerve damage and could cause a stroke or even death at any moment.

Emma Young, 35, mother to three year old Vinnie, from Sittingbourne now lives on a day to day basis and has compiled a ‘bucket-list’ of her dreams and ambitions.


After reading an article in the paper about Emma’s story and her bucket wish list, Barretts Jaguar has managed to fulfil one of Emma’s dreams – Driving a new Jaguar! Emma has also been offered a second honeymoon with her husband, Luke at the Ashdown Park and Country Club where Emma sadly fell ill during their stay in 2010, possibly due to the tumour. A fantastic gesture from the Hotel to enjoy some quality time together and what better way to travel there than in a Jaguar!

The former Abbey School pupil said: “I’m so grateful to them and the hotel for making my dreams come true.”


Emma is suffering other complications, including swelling and pain on the left side of her face and will need to undergo further tests and scans.

The rest of Emma’s bucket list includes; having a cup of tea and a chat with her favourite actor Ray Winstone at a greasy spoon cafe, ringside seats for a boxing match, a trip to New York and a trip to Scotland to visit Leslie Castle.
